What we've been up to...

A couple of weekends ago we went to go stay at the brand new Encore hotel. The newest Steve Wynn property. They were giving away killer deals for locals and so we jumped on the chance. The place is pretty cool so if you are ever in town, you should check it out.
See, it does pay to be a local around here.

I also had a movie weekend which I haven't done in forever. I wanted to see more but apparantly everyone thought that 2 movies was plenty. I guess I just need to start going by myself...

We saw Slumdog Millionaire. Great movie if you haven't seen it.
We also saw Revolutionary Road. A movie that made you somewhat think, but pretty depressing. The acting was good though.

Ellie has learned The Pledge of Alligiance, now I am just trying to get it on video.

Oh yes, and like I said I got suckered into joining facebook. And I have dreamt about the damn thing every night since. Freak!

That's about all over here. Sorry for the lame update but I figured it's almost February, I better get something else in before that!

So, I am at my local drive thru yesterday picking up some lunch and this is the conversation with the guy at the window...

Mr Drive-thru: Gee, it's getting pretty cold out here.
Me: Not like yesterday.
Mr Drive-thru: Oh yes, I'm a junior in high school and yesterday we had a field trip on the strip and you couldn't see anything. Not even the hotels. The sky was just grey.
Me: (being the scrapbooker) Did you get any good pictures?
Mr Drive-thru: Oh yes, we took tons. And you know kids these days, we always have to put stuff on myspace.
Me: Oh yes, kids these days.
Mr Drive-thru: Yes, just download then upload. Have a good day!

Now, normally I wouldn't be bothered. However, I think it was the way he said you know kids these days. Meaning, look at this old lady I'm talking to and in no way does she have a myspace. Well, you are right Mr Drive-thru, I don't. But it isn't because I'm only 20 years older than you. So there.

So, the cold has hit the whole Ceballos family. We are loving it here. I seriously feel like I have so much to get done but I just get home from work and go to bed. Not to good when you have to be productive. My to do list just keeps getting longer with nothing getting crossed off, and you know how I hate that! So, anyway, if I owe you an email or a comment on a blog post or something in the mail, it will get there eventually.

hump day.

Today is somewhat of a bad day. Emotionally, mentally and physically.
However, it's December and it's snowing here AGAIN so I had better snap out of it.


Just a few things -

1. Congratulations to my mom on her etsy shop, she is sold out of everything but one childrens apron, and continues to take custom orders. So, ya know if anyone wants one...

2. I still have so much stuff to do in the next week. Holy shit, Christmas is right around the corner and I am sick and don't feel like doing anything. Let alone working all week!

3. Thanks to everyone who posted a recipe, I have printed them out and I'm sure I will make every one of them at some point.

4. Which leads me to a winner of the cd - Ms. Erica was randomly picked out of the bowl. I'll get it sent out to you asap. I hope you enjoy it! And thanks to everyone else for playing along.

5. I still haven't gotten an earring/piercing for my wrist. I know I said I was going weeks ago, and I did at 11:00 am. Apparantly, they don't open until 1 pm. Nice life. So I just have this open hole, which is really bugging me.

Today I tackled Christmas shopping. I got so much done in a matter of 5 hours and most of it at Costco. You've got to love one stop shopping. You've got to hate the traffic. I swear, in this town, if someone isn't honking their horn, something isn't right. This isn't New York City people!
I was listening to the radio today and seriously getting sick to my stomach. Ellie has seriously worn me out with this Christmas music. I can't even listen to normal good music anymore. I have lost a taste for it. I hope I can get over this soon. I can't get addicted to talk radio again!

I really don't have that much to say.

Seriously, this blogging every day should be easier.

Maybe if I had more going on in my life.

But, it is the busiest time of the year.

I did however notice that my mac finally updated with blogger and it now has all these new features.

Good to be updated.

I went to work today after having 6 days off in a row.

I'm off again on Friday and that will be my last day off for the rest of the year.

Perhaps I should do something to celebrate.

I did realize that I still have a hell of a lot of Christmas shopping to do. 

Only 14 shopping days left. I think I might be in trouble.

1. Grey's Anatomy, The Office and Survivor all start tonight. What is a girl to do especially since we no longer have tivo. It'll work it self out but I am so excited for fall tv!

2. Speaking of fall...it is supposed to be 96 degrees here today. Is that fall weather? I don't think so. How am I supposed to judge when I can make my trip up to Mt. Charleston to see the one leaf change colors when I have weather like this?

3. The news down here - a major Chevrolet dealership closed their doors yesterday. Today, a local scrapbook store. I'm sure there are more but this is scary peeps. Scary.

4. Did I mention I cut all my hair off? Cause I did. Joaquin actually likes it. Score!

5. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday with an open bar. Nice. Too bad I have to be home by 9 to get my kid in bed. I've been trying to get her to bed by 9 since we have been back in town. So far so good. First night Joaquin says "why are you putting her in bed so early?" I say "It's 9! She's 2!" He says "She doesn't like routines." I said "She's 2!" See what I have to deal with??? If it was up to him, she would still be sleeping with us and going to bed at 11.

6. Sorry about going on and on with #5.

7. It's the art festival this weekend. Art festival=funnel cakes and texas twister drinks.

8. Jimmy Buffett is coming to town again in a few weeks. I have decided to stay away from the preparty as I don't want to yak in my straw hat again.

Can anyone out there help me out with this?

12. My to do list for this weekend is awfully long and blogging didn't make it on the list. I guess I won't be able to cross this off.

13. One thing on the list - I hope to clean out my scrapbook room this weekend. Which means, I will be posting a lot of things on craigslist to sell. I'll let you know what happens if anyone wants anything.

14. Should I try to go for 25 things to ramble about since it is September 25th? Hell no!

Woo. Hoo. I am off work until the 15th! On a much needed long vacation!
I am so excited to take Ellie to Sea World. I hope the weather is good for her to see dolphins, whales and now Elmo! By the way, Chelsie, the picture is of where we are staying in Newport Beach.

Wow, you have a lot to write about when you haven't had a regular blog post in a while.
Here goes...

We celebrated Joaquin's 40th birthday. If you have been reading along, you may have noticed that this has been very stressful as I have learned that Cuban's can't keep secrets. Well, they did keep the birthday a secret but not everyone showed up and no one but my family and a friend were on time. So basically, we surprised them when they came in. I guess another thing I learned is they don't know the meaning of SURPRISE party. Oh well, the food was good and I have a ton of cake left over.

We ended up just staying at Red Rock for a couple nights. It was a good little getaway and I got fried. Again. Good thing I didn't have Sarah Wright to answer to after that. But, my cute little kid looks like a Coppertone baby.


My mom, Jessica and I ventured out to Boulder City, Nevada this week to go antique shopping. Not really sure what prompted that but I ended up with a couple of books for Ellie and a really cool Walt Disney Song Book circa 1979. I don't even play an instrument. It was just that cool that I had to have it!

Ellie and I will be in Newport Beach in 2 weeks (Joaquin will be coming in later) and I'm about ready to pee my pants with anticipation. Pretty sad that I am getting this worked up over California when I used to go there all the time. I guess that is what happens when the only vacations you take in a year are to Utah.

In addition, I will be at the Toad the Wet Sprocket concert next Sunday and I can't wait. They are in my opinion, the best band EVER. Nevermind that they broke up and didn't take me into consideration. Oh well, reunion shows are always good too.

Did I mention I hit Joaquin's car again. Yep, I backed into the drivers side door that was open. Yep, I need a new bumper. Yep, his car door is out of alignment. Yep, my life sucks.

And, just a reminder that the modbe swimsuits are going fast. Get them before they are g.o.n.e. Of course, if you get anything, it would help if you have me as your consultant. #1928. I'm waiting for the new catalogs to come out and then look out - you are all getting one in the mail! Well, at least some of you. We are giving a bridal shower for a friend of ours next month. She is from Vegas and is getting married here but lives in South Carolina.
I'm wondering if you would think it was tacky to do a gift card shower, seeing as how she can only have 50 lb bags anymore on a flight!
Any thoughts or any other ideas on what to do?

american anthem

After watching the men's gymnastics last night, I was taken back to my early years when a movie called American Anthem came out. Lindsi do you remember this? You were probably the only one who watched it with me I think. Anyway, it has Mitch Gaylord in it and back then he was HOT! I need to find this movie again to check it out - anybody else ever heard of it?

And when I googled his name to find out the name of the movie since I had forgotten, it looks like he was a judge for Celebrity Circus - did anybody watch that because it wasn't on my list. Just wondering if he's still hot???

Having Ellie finally go #2 in the toilet and seeing her face when she gets a new pack of crayons and a book as a reward: priceless.

Now, I have the crayons and the notebooks, just have to work on the toilet thing.

If you want a cool mom award also - get on over to Walmart quick (I know Target is soooo much better, but you can't beat 22 cents for Crayola crayons!)

in search of...

I am looking for some sort of drink that can go in a large cooler on a hot day. Preferably one that I can add Sprite too or something. Not to offend, but I know these kind of drinks are big at the Mormon get togethers. So, I am hoping someone can help me out!
