October 29, 2008

and I'm off an another adventure.

Heading out to the beautiful city of Salt Lake this afternoon. Solo. Leaving the fam behind.
Arriving just in time to go see Mr. Joshua Radin and Ms. Missy Higgins in what some might call the hood or a previous gay club - whatever you prefer.

Will be flying back just in time to take little Ellie (I mean Abby Cadabby) trick or treating.

Until then...

disneyland.

Two posts in one day. Told you I would get better...
Last week we (J, me and Ellie) took a pretty impromptu trip to Disneyland. It was so fun with a two year old. And I have to say I was glad we just went and didn't listen to the critics (my family) who said we were crazy.
Ellie absolutely loved it, which meant so did we.
We got a 2 day pass and went on Thursday and Friday which I totally recommend going on a weekday. Thursday, the longest wait was maybe 15 minutes. However, by Friday night it was a totally different story.
Ellie loved seeing the characters and gave them all hugs as though she had never been hugged before. Every day when we walked in, she said lets go see the magic.
She was even given a pin that said honorary citizen of Disneyland. We were just be-bopping to the music while waiting for the parade to start and some worker walked by a couple of times and then gave her one. He said it might get us on the rides a little faster - didn't happen. Oh well, I don't think they just hand those out to everyone...

(can anyone tell me who this is?)

we interupt this blog...

Wow. This is only my 4th blog post in October. That is just w.r.o.n.g. I'll try to do better from now on. And, I promise to get back to my regular life soon but for now, I have something I've been thinking about.

My good friend Liz is turning the big 40 in a few months. I can post this here because she lives without the internet (can you imagine?) and therefore, doesn't read this.

Anyway, I was thinking that perhaps I could do a gift of 40 things. Somewhat on the cheap end, since again, there will be 40 things. Oh yes, and I have to ship it.

So, have any of you bloggers out there ever done anything at all like this? Can anyone give me any sort of ideas? 40 things is alot to come up with! I may be over my head on this one.

funny to me.

Being as I am married to a Cuban, I usually read things that pop up on the internet as I am searching. I found an article today with this picture attached.

This is so hilarious to me. Look at the size of that cigar and look how little she is. I know that if my Cuban born husband would smoke something like that, he would be drunk for days!

October 9, 2008

tagged.

Since I have been M.I.A. lately I thought I would come back to life by this tag from Erica. And, don't think that I've been away because I've been sooo busy that I just can't even get on the computer. Just lazy with nothing to say. Anyway, on with it...

The rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you: Erica.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write 6 random things about yourself.

4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I have been obsessed with Fox News radio lately. Obsessed. I don't even listen to music anymore unless I'm at work. I listen to it on the way to work, at lunch and on the way home.

2. I entered a contest a few months ago with our 401k plan and totally forgot about it until I received a package in the mail this week saying I won. Cool beans. I won a $100 Best Buy giftcard and I think a year subscription to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Obviously since I think it is a year subscription, I could care less about it. So if anyone wants it, be the first commenter saying so and you shall receive a package in the mail. See, we are both winners!

3. I booked a trip to Salt Lake City yesterday. I'm going at the end of the month to see Missy Higgins and Joshua Radin in concert. I am uber excited. And, if you know me, you will know I never use the word uber. So, in this case, I must really be excited. And, not to discredit Ellen but I'm saying I knew about him before she did. But that is neither here nor there. Point is, he is lovely. In voice, lyrics and looks.

4. When I cook a meal in the microwave at work, I love it when it is done and across the clock it says "enjoy your meal". Makes those leftovers seem all the more enjoyable.

5. Dare I say it? I LOVE the new Michael's. They have everything now. Well, almost. There was a time in my life when my once good friend Paul said I need to go to Michael's, do you want to go? My response was "why the f**k would I want to go to Michael's? I believe it got a pretty good laugh and I still think about that when I am in there actually enjoying myself. How times change.

6. I am a list maker. Love lists. It makes you feel like you accomplished something. Like the list for Monday was among other things, Prison Break. Knowing that I would watch it, it was something I could cross off regardless. See how that works. Accomplishment. Now, if I could just get my lovely husband to make lists as well, I would really feel like I accomplished something.

And, like the rules say, I tag: Chelsie, Kristine and Camille because who knows what the hell you have been up to!

September 25, 2008

yadda, yadda, yadda and then some.

1. Grey's Anatomy, The Office and Survivor all start tonight. What is a girl to do especially since we no longer have tivo. It'll work it self out but I am so excited for fall tv!

2. Speaking of fall...it is supposed to be 96 degrees here today. Is that fall weather? I don't think so. How am I supposed to judge when I can make my trip up to Mt. Charleston to see the one leaf change colors when I have weather like this?

3. The news down here - a major Chevrolet dealership closed their doors yesterday. Today, a local scrapbook store. I'm sure there are more but this is scary peeps. Scary.

4. Did I mention I cut all my hair off? Cause I did. Joaquin actually likes it. Score!

5. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday with an open bar. Nice. Too bad I have to be home by 9 to get my kid in bed. I've been trying to get her to bed by 9 since we have been back in town. So far so good. First night Joaquin says "why are you putting her in bed so early?" I say "It's 9! She's 2!" He says "She doesn't like routines." I said "She's 2!" See what I have to deal with??? If it was up to him, she would still be sleeping with us and going to bed at 11.

6. Sorry about going on and on with #5.

7. It's the art festival this weekend. Art festival=funnel cakes and texas twister drinks.

8. Jimmy Buffett is coming to town again in a few weeks. I have decided to stay away from the preparty as I don't want to yak in my straw hat again.

9. This post sounds like I am a lush which I so am not - back me up mom...

10. It's been a while...next 10 on the ipod.
1. Bright Lights - Matchbox Twenty
2. I Feel the Earth Move - Carole King
3. Wherever You Will Go - The Calling
4. You & A Promise - Howie Day
5. What Can I Say - Brandi Carlile
6. Stealing Kisses - Faith Hill
7. Love Will Come Through - Travis
8. Pink Bullets - The Shins
9. Wreckage - Ben Jelen
10. Fall For Anything - Jeremy Fisher

11. Mac problems - dare I say it. I am starting to hate this computer. I just wish I knew more about it without going to the genius bar sounding like an idiot. While in SLC, Emilee's dog ruined my computer. Yes, Emilee she did. I can't get the damn thing on without the power cord being plugged in. I have tried to set it to battery and it will not take. Can anyone out there help me out with this?

12. My to do list for this weekend is awfully long and blogging didn't make it on the list. I guess I won't be able to cross this off.

13. One thing on the list - I hope to clean out my scrapbook room this weekend. Which means, I will be posting a lot of things on craigslist to sell. I'll let you know what happens if anyone wants anything.

14. Should I try to go for 25 things to ramble about since it is September 25th? Hell no!

September 2, 2008

do you remember september.

Seriously not much going on here. I wish I could say I wasn't blogging because I was so flipping busy but that would be a lie. Well, I am pretty busy but just not with anything blog worthy. Jess and I did go to Toad this weekend. Ahh, I love them. Seriously. It made me want to pull out my guitar and start learning it. And the opening act, Paul Freeman was fantastic as well. You should check him out. New album coming out in a couple weeks. And, Todd you might be happy to know that they threw out the f bomb a few times as well. And, they were all appropriate.

And, here is Ellie at her best...(and before Jessica mentions it, I just have to apologize about the hair - you have to get the video when you can!)

August 24, 2008

and now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Wow, you have a lot to write about when you haven't had a regular blog post in a while.
Here goes...

We celebrated Joaquin's 40th birthday. If you have been reading along, you may have noticed that this has been very stressful as I have learned that Cuban's can't keep secrets. Well, they did keep the birthday a secret but not everyone showed up and no one but my family and a friend were on time. So basically, we surprised them when they came in. I guess another thing I learned is they don't know the meaning of SURPRISE party. Oh well, the food was good and I have a ton of cake left over.

We ended up just staying at Red Rock for a couple nights. It was a good little getaway and I got fried. Again. Good thing I didn't have Sarah Wright to answer to after that. But, my cute little kid looks like a Coppertone baby.

My mom, Jessica and I ventured out to Boulder City, Nevada this week to go antique shopping. Not really sure what prompted that but I ended up with a couple of books for Ellie and a really cool Walt Disney Song Book circa 1979. I don't even play an instrument. It was just that cool that I had to have it!

Ellie and I will be in Newport Beach in 2 weeks (Joaquin will be coming in later) and I'm about ready to pee my pants with anticipation. Pretty sad that I am getting this worked up over California when I used to go there all the time. I guess that is what happens when the only vacations you take in a year are to Utah.

In addition, I will be at the Toad the Wet Sprocket concert next Sunday and I can't wait. They are in my opinion, the best band EVER. Nevermind that they broke up and didn't take me into consideration. Oh well, reunion shows are always good too.

-Me and Toad and a few others 1997

And, aren't these so cool. Taken from Martha Stewart's website. Something you should have if you live in Vegas.

Did I mention I hit Joaquin's car again. Yep, I backed into the drivers side door that was open. Yep, I need a new bumper. Yep, his car door is out of alignment. Yep, my life sucks.

And, just a reminder that the modbe swimsuits are going fast. Get them before they are g.o.n.e. Of course, if you get anything, it would help if you have me as your consultant. #1928. I'm waiting for the new catalogs to come out and then look out - you are all getting one in the mail! Well, at least some of you. If you want one though, send me an email lbags999@yahoo.com with your address.

I don't know, is that enough said???

August 18, 2008

happy birthday babe

yesterday.
40 years old.
And you don't look a day over 39!!!

August 13, 2008

you guys are so good to me, i need your help again!

We are giving a bridal shower for a friend of ours next month. She is from Vegas and is getting married here but lives in South Carolina.
I'm wondering if you would think it was tacky to do a gift card shower, seeing as how she can only have 50 lb bags anymore on a flight!
Any thoughts or any other ideas on what to do?

it's right around the corner.

Christmas that is.

and you can blame my cousin for bringing it to my attention.

Anyway, seeing as money is tight in the Ceballos household, I have decided to make gifts. Sorry for you family members who are finding out this way. But I am need of some ideas. Anybody crafty out there have anything for me or do any family members have any requests?

August 12, 2008

because it's about time i have a post with a picture of ellie.

This was from last month and thank you Chelsie for providing the mess on her face and hands!

american anthem

After watching the men's gymnastics last night, I was taken back to my early years when a movie called American Anthem came out. Lindsi do you remember this? You were probably the only one who watched it with me I think. Anyway, it has Mitch Gaylord in it and back then he was HOT! I need to find this movie again to check it out - anybody else ever heard of it?

And when I googled his name to find out the name of the movie since I had forgotten, it looks like he was a judge for Celebrity Circus - did anybody watch that because it wasn't on my list. Just wondering if he's still hot???

August 10, 2008

Anybody want to add anything else?

August 9, 2008

baby shower favors

still in search of ideas.
Anyone have any?
I've got less than a week to figure this out - please kids, help a girl out!

Please let me know even if I don't know you - anything will help!

Please, Please, Please!

Can you tell the urgency?

Thanks and we'll be back to normal blogging later...

August 5, 2008

cool stuff.

If I end up moving - I totally want to do something like this. And it's styrofoam!
Click on the free pdf download, and it comes up with some cool stuff on the cheap!
(Taush, this is so up your alley)

August 4, 2008

cool mom award goes to...

me.

Because I went to Walmart and got about 18 packs of crayons and notebooks.

24 pack of crayons: $.22
70 sheet notebook: $.05
Having Ellie finally go #2 in the toilet and seeing her face when she gets a new pack of crayons and a book as a reward: priceless.

Now, I have the crayons and the notebooks, just have to work on the toilet thing.

If you want a cool mom award also - get on over to Walmart quick (I know Target is soooo much better, but you can't beat 22 cents for Crayola crayons!)

ideas?

We are having a baby shower for a cousin of mine in a couple weeks and we need some sort of favor idea.
The only ones I can think of are the baby bottles filled with m&m's or jelly bellies. But, what exactly do you do with the baby bottles after anyway? Might be a waste...
So, does anyone out in blogland have any ideas of something cute we could throw together?

Anyone???

Thanks!

August 3, 2008

don't freak out.

I went to church today.
Joaquin, myself, Ellie and my mom went to church. And no it wasn't the Starbucks church which is usually what we do on Sunday (although, that came after church).
I was thinking about it and the last time I was in a church was when we went to Joaquin's friends wedding at a Catholic church 3 1/2 years ago. I guess it was probably time to go back.
It was a Lutheran church that some friends of ours go to. It was sooo different than the LDS church I was used to.
They had a band and singers. They had 2 big screens built into the wall for words to the songs and the message. Since I have been baptized, I was able to take communion, which consisted of a wafer and wine. I took Ellie up with me and they gave her a quick little blessing. They had donuts and coffee after in the gym. And you could pretty much wear a tank top and shorts and it would be fine. It was only 1 hour long compared to the 3 I have been used to and it was a good message. The kind that you hear and think, this is probably something I should be hearing about now.
I'm very proud of stepping "out of my box" and who knows, I just might be going again next Sunday!

July 30, 2008

this is what happens when jessica babysits...

I borrowed Jessica's camera card to get pictures from the Shrek party and this is one I discovered from months ago. Love it!
Thanks Jess for tending - I probably still owe you dinner or something for doing that. I should probably get on it!

July 29, 2008

modbe sale

Get on over to the modbe website as soon as possible!

They are having a big sale!

Put me down as your consultant - #1928. Help a sister out!

I just received my package today so hopefully this new adventure will begin soon!

Thanks!

July 27, 2008

two.

Happy Birthday Ellie!
I hope you had a fantastic day!
We love you pretty girl!

More pictures to come - and some that look like she is actually having a good time!

July 24, 2008

it's over.

the privacy that is. We are now public again! Tell your friends!

And...

I am in desperate need for a new blog design - who can help this somewhat computer illiterate person out?
edited - thank you Lindsay!

July 22, 2008

modbe. that's me!

You are looking at (or better yet, reading) that I will be your new modbe clothing consultant. So, get your cute stuff from me! Once everything is finalized, I will hopefully have a link on the side for better access. So check it out now so you can get your wishlists going! New stuff coming out in September...

Also, when this happens - we will no longer be private anymore. So lucky you!!

July 20, 2008

in search of...

I am looking for some sort of drink that can go in a large cooler on a hot day. Preferably one that I can add Sprite too or something. Not to offend, but I know these kind of drinks are big at the Mormon get togethers. So, I am hoping someone can help me out!
Thanks!

July 8, 2008

we're back and it's only 109 degrees

As I mentioned before, we went to Utah for a long weekend. Just ask 75% of my blog readers - I would say that is about the ratio of people I saw. Be at a bbq or the parade or just walking on the street - I saw people!

And now, for a quick recap...

Thursday - headed out bright and early with the parents and Ellie. Ellie is a very good car traveler. Especially when Shrek or The Wonder Pets are playing. We stopped in Nephi for some gas and food. It was pretty much the worst Burger King food we have had in a long time. I would recommend you skip Nephi all together in your road travels. Hung out at Emilee's house for most of the day and then had a rip roaring card game of Hand and Foot. I used to play this game with the Hamilton's all the time back in the day, and was reintroduced to it after my parents got back from Hawaii and learned it. Now, we play it every chance we get. It's pretty funny playing any sort of game with the parents since I don't remember the last time either of them said - hey, let's play a game.

Friday - Happy 4th of July! We went to the Evergreen Park parade and met up with Liz and her cute family.

This picture of Ellie and Meredith was taken right before they fell to the ground. Oops.
The parade was pretty much a bust. This parade or the carnival that happens after was pretty much a staple for me growing up. But, I don't know if it's just lame now that I am older or if it just used to be better like I think it was. I'm going with the later on this one. At least Ellie was comfortable...

Later that night, we went to a bbq at my cousin Andy's house and then watched some fireworks.

Saturday - We all headed up to Park City where we went to dinner at Wasatch Brewery and some ice cream for Ellie and then of course more games of Hand and Foot. And I can't forget about the t-shirt that I picked up for Joaquin.

Sunday - We went to Park Silly Fest. It is a very cool thing and I suggest all you Utahn's go. I picked up a new necklace and a frame that somehow I need to steal the idea and make them myself for profit. Had a bbq with more cousins at Emilee's house. It was fun to see everyone again and meet some new people. And, I'm so glad Ellie had fun with her cousins. She doesn't get around little kids much so it's good for her. And of course, I only got maybe one picture. Taush - thanks for the gift, now I can print all my recipes in recipe size form! Shawni, it was good to see you and your husband - I'm sure you have been told this before but you guys look alike! You know that is a good sign! And congratulations! Chelsie - it was good to finally meet you! The dessert was delicious - maybe you should sign up for the next Food Network star. I would ask you for the recipe but I am kidding myself if I think I could possibly make those! And, if you guys happen to move out this way, I would go visit. That should be incentive enough!

Monday - yes, I didn't go back on Sunday and I was so happy! Did a little running around and then lunch and of course a sno shack before the dreaded ride home. Thank you Jessica for driving! This whole trip was worth it - I didn't have to buy a cent of gas!

And that was supposed to be a quick update but in all actuality, I'm sure I forgot some stuff!

July 1, 2008

Happy July.

So would this day be considered hump day for the year?

Thanks to house seats and me being at the right place at the right time, Joaquin and I are going to see Bette Midler tonight. Got super lucky on getting those tickets. Hopefully Ms. M will be a good show.

I have a 6 day weekend coming up. Can it get any better than that? Why, yes it could. It could be a whole month weekend if I didn't have to go to work. Someday...

This is the month that Ellie turns 2 years old. Freaky. And the fact that I still look like I'm pregnant is even more freaky. I'm blaming it on the age. If I was like some of my friends, I would have kids old enough to babysit mine at this point and my body would be back to normal. Oh well, let the party planning begin!

We have 2 tickets to Peter Frampton at the Red Rock on July 11th that we won't be using if anyone wants them.

I have someone interested in another one of my Craigs list postings. If I do infact meet with the guy, I'm taking the goods to Smith's. And not to bring up Dave again, but he did mention that when he got lost, he went to that Smith's and was so happy because he found a fountain that he could use for his yard. See it all turned out swell.

And the countdown begins: 46 days until I will be married to a 40 year old. A 40 year old! I remember when that just seemed really old. Now I'm almost married to one. I guess when you are almost there yourself, 40 is like the new 20. If only we felt that way!

So much planned for the Utah trip: 4th of July parade, IKEA, bbq at cousins house, bbq at sisters house, Park City, Ellie swimming, farmers market. I know there is more, I guess we'll just figure it out when we get there!

I hope everyone has a fantastic July and if you are Canadian - Happy Canada Day. Eh.

June 30, 2008

here we come. again.

Ellie and I are heading out to SLC again for the 4th of July weekend. This time however, Joaquin won't be joining us. I told you, he only comes about every 10 years.

Anyway, we will be around Salt Lake and Park City. And I am already getting sick to my stomach thinking about all the people I might run into at the Evergreen parade.

June 28, 2008

so I don't forget.

tonight -

Ellie went potty HERE!

She was eating popcorn and said "This is delicious"

She grabbed the Shrek video and said "Watch Shrek, and Donkey, and Princess Fiona"

She took a package of wrapping paper and said "baseball" and proceeded to swing it like a bat.

She kept counting to 12 over and over.

June 27, 2008

23 months

Just a few little tidbits of little Ellie before the big 2 years!

Her favorite saying "what happened?"
She loves Shrek (as seen in the picture)

She can climb in and out of her high chair and freaks out if you try to help her. Love the independent stage!
She LOVES to swim.

She has slept for one consecutive week in her own bed!
Whenever she sees the camera, she says cheese but hardly ever looks at me (like this picture)

The potty thing didn't really take - she really only does it at yaya's house.
She loves to act like she is playing the wii whenever we are. I'll have to try and get a video of that - hilarious.
She actually talked to me on the phone yesterday. She said she was swimming at yaya's house and having fun and that she loved me. Usually, she is scared of talking to people on the phone, I think she is wondering where the hell they are.

She sings The Wonder Pets theme song all the time. Doesn't matter if it's on tv or not.
When she doesn't talk to someone or covers her eyes, she says she is being shy.
If you ask her what she wants for dinner, she will say guava. Unfortunately, it is the baby food variety.
She never says yes. Always yep or ok.
She's got Joaquin's skin. So basically, I'm going to be the white one always!
And, she is going to see the dolphins at the Mirage tomorrow!

June 24, 2008

in search of...

Some good easy summer recipes.
Preferably something that doesn't require me turning on my oven or stove.
Because I don't know if I have mentioned this or not but
it is HOTTER THAN HELL here.

June 23, 2008

dave.

Yesterday, I decide it's about time to start diving into my to do list that has been around for months. So, I list some things on craigslist to cross that off.
I list this.

Little did I know, I would get three emails from three different buyers in a matter of minutes.
What, are people just searching popcorn makers to see what pops up every second?
Anyway, I get an email from Dave. Seems normal enough. Says he has cash, he lives in the area, he can hop in his car right now to come pick it up. I email him back to say we are leaving in 30 minutes so come now. Joaquin then calls him with directions. That is when I should have been warned.
They were on the phone for about 10 minutes just giving directions. I thought he lived in the area???
Wait 45 minutes, no Dave.
We leave for the pool. I have my phone with me and in the hour that we were at the pool, I had gotten 10 emails.
Here is just an example...
IT'S 4 30 ...please please call me...i want to come there to buy the popcorn machine...PLEASE PLEASE CALL ME...I GOT LOST BEFORE ...I DIDNT HAVE YOUR NUMBER TO CALL YOU AND GET BETTER DIRECTIONS.....PLEASE CALL ME....IM WAITING BY THE PHONE....PLEASE...I GOT LOST MAPQUEST WAS SO WRONG....PLEASE CALL ME AS SOON AS YOU CAN PLEASE!!!
Meanwhile, I told Joaquin, I'm just going to sell it someone else who inquired and tell this guy he is really creeping me out. After all, he can't find my house. He has no idea where I really live!
So, we go eat at the parents house and then I get this email...
Hi....its now 10 minutes to 7 and i'm going to try to drive there again....This time i went to google map to get directions...I think there was a mix up....it said take exit 23 "To" get to Town Center Dr...and i was thinking there was a town center exit in summerlin somewhere and thats where i got all confused because i dint see that exit , then i started to ask people all over the place for directions and where those streets were....Anyway i'm so sorry i got lost but now im goingto get in my car and try this again...PLEASE PLEASE LET ME BUY THE POPCORN MACHINE PLEASE.....I GOT LOST BEFORE SO PLEASE GIVE ME THE CHANCE TO BUY THIS....PLEASE......I 'm leaving now its just almost 7 pm now and i pray you will be there.....PLEASE PLEASE LET ME BUY THIS POPCORN MACHINE!!!!!!!!! So, now he really has directions. We are screwed.
We come home about 9:30 and who comes in the driveway right after us? Duh. I think he was hiding around the corner just waiting.
I text Jessica.
Me - Guess who is here?
Jessica - Psycho! Don't let him in the house.
Me - Too late.
Jessica - You're f*****d.
Me - Thanks.
He finally buys the machine after asking tons of questions and tells us he is a movie editor. I'm guessing porn - had that freak look about him.
Then the conversation went like this...
Dave - why are you getting rid of this?
Joaquin - oh, we are just changing things around.
Dave - oh, so are you selling anything else?
Joaquin - (before Dave even finished the question) - NO!
And then I watched out the blinds to make sure he didn't kill my husband while he carried it out to the car for him.

And if you have read this far, I'm sorry. There is probably a lot of useless info in there but I just had to get it out. I have three other things listed. Let's hope everything else goes okay!
