vent.

So, we get this letter from our HOA today saying take down your Christmas lights within 10 days or get a $100 fine and face the board. So I say, haven't you heard of Christmas in July??? No really, Joaquin has just been really busy "flipping" one of his rentals so we can sell it! Yeah! But, I am so freaking irate!

How about our 2 neighbors that have 2 of their trees down in the front yard. One from the big hurricane we had like 4 months ago, and the other one from the drunken car accident (see below post). How about all the cars that park on the side of the street, instead of in the garage or driveway? How about the big oil stain in front of our house that spans across the street? Thanks again to the drunk driver for that. How about the neighbors garbage that they leave on the front porch?

Anyway, I have to send a letter back to the HOA saying that I have taken down my lights (which will be done) and I want to vent about all this other crap. So, if anyone has any suggestions or comments to add in this lovely letter, please let me know below.

Thanks.
Lori

randoms.

So, just a few things...

First, is it weird that every time I hear a car going down my street at 80 mph I think they are going to get into a car accident and hit my house? Could it possibly be because of this drunk driver who almost did just that? (yes, that is my house RIGHT behind the car)

Anyway, we don't live on a major street. But it is long with no stop signs, so people go really fast and I can hear them out my windows at all hours. So, this car accident happened a few months ago at 3 am and freaked me right out. It's not something that happens every day you know. Ever since then, I hear these cars and seriously, get a knot in my stomach that something is going to happen again. So, will this feeling go away over time or do I need some sort of therapy?

Second, have you guys seen or heard of these? It might make me actually go down to the strip and get some at their own little store...

Third, I got this email today, totally cracked me up. I'm sure all you mothers out there will appreciate it.

The Mommy Test:

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter She picked up something
off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away
from her and I asked her not to do that. "Why?" my daughter asked.
"Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's
dirty and probably has germs" I replied.
At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked,
"Mommy, how do you know all this stuff? You are so smart." I was
thinking quickly. "All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You
have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy." We walked along in
silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new
information.
"OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to
be the daddy." "Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face.

And fourth (whew), if you need any good music to download, go here. It is a cover of an old Tears for Fears song but it's fantastic (if I don't say so myself).

Over and out!

weekend update.

Okay, so we went to see Howard Jones, Joaquin loved it! He was very happy that I took the initiative and bought tickets. He even said he would go see any concert I wanted, well I already had one in mind! Joshua Radin will be here in a few weeks!

My mom and I went paint and fabric shopping this weekend, it's now time for some home projects!

Today, we took Ellie to get her 6 months pictures taken, and needless to say, after a few pictures, we made another appointment for next weekend. She just didn't want to cooperate!

Hope you all had an eventful weekend.
Looking forward to a great week at work! (Did that sound at all sarcastic???)

six.

At six days old we brought home this precious little girl from the hospital. Still newbies at this whole parenting thing. Scared, happy, nervous, excited, so many emotions. She was so little, so fragile, weighing only 6 lbs 11 oz.

Now fast forward to today, and she is now six months old. And so big (in my opinion). She now weighs 15 lbs 9 oz. She sits up. She eats vegetables and fruit. She can put her binkie in her mouth herself (and gets it in there the right way). She rubs her eyes when she is tired. She drools constantly. She wants to put everything in her mouth. She pants (like a dog). And, she has slept thru the night for 2 nights straight! And of course, she is just the cutest thing ever!

She has changed our lives forever and for that we are eternally grateful!

Love you pretty girl!

go mom.

So, yesterday my mom was actually scrapbooking. In a scrapbooking store. At a scrapbooking class. I had to stop by for some support but she was already done as she was the only one in the class!

Anyway, who knows, maybe she will really let her creative juices flow and want to do this new craft all the time!

Mom, any interest in this?

In other news, it is a much needed date night tonight with Howard Jones! As in the Howard Jones, as in HoJo from the 1980's. Here's hoping I can get a good photo!

Have a good day.

orange.

Well, we have moved onto the "orange" foods - meaning squash, sweet potatoes, carrots and she has passed the test. Per the doc, now we can move onto fruit! And by the looks of this picture, I can't wait to feed her chocolate cake!

So, did anyone catch the musical Scrubs last week? And was I the only one who had to go watch Garden State this weekend after seeing it? Because as far as I'm concerned you just can't get enough of that Zach Braff.

And congratulations to Danielle who has entered motherhood as of yesterday - good luck!

Thats all for now, I've got to run and watch Prison Break!

day off.

So, here I am starting a blog - why? Not sure exactly. Just another day in the life. I took a much needed day off work and I'm just here catching up on things - laundry, 2 weeks of tivo, getting rid of this sore throat, possibly scrapbooking and of course, starting this whole blog thingy.

So, enjoy. And I'll try to post new pics each time.

Until then...
Lori

Oh, and thanks mom & dad for taking this precious girl off my hands so I can get some things done!
